Refreshingly original composition for this challenge. Great colors and textures going on here. Out of the context of this challenge, the shot may lack some interest, but it does work for me here though. Good job in catching good lighting/exposure here also.

Interesting perspective here. True, the building is cut off, but in this case I can see that it makes for a strong composition. The roof offers a nice diagonal base splitting the picture and creating a pretty good balance of lines and texture in the wood of the structure and the more solid roof and sky. There is some nice texture going on by the way in your subject. I like the ominous feel of the blackness within the opeining, the viewer is left wondering what might be inside, another time of day with different lighting angles may have spoiled this, nice choice. In that respect lighting is good, however over all, IMO the llighting seems kind of flat in the shot. I'm wondering if maybe a little different adj. in levels or brightness may ad some pop? perhaps not. I know that often times it seems people do b/w just for the sake of it, but I'm thinking maybe in this shot it could be strong, really emphasizing the rich tone and texture of the wood and the roof, and bringing less into play the slightly drab lighting conditions. Perhaps even playing with hue/sat, in separate channels, kind of selectively desating, utilizing the strengths of the wood tones and primarily neutral colors? Overall, good job, nice photo. :-)

A great shot. Refreshingly original take on the challenge. I like it a lot. The composition is really strong IMO. Nice balance to it, and it leads you nicely on a vertical up the photo. Did you move the debris around, or did you find it that way? :-) Nice find. Good job.

Interesting take on the challenge. I kind of like it. A bit refreshing. I really like the composition and how you can see through the other windows, nice framing within framing. I'm wondering if the board hanging out the window was already there or did you place it? :-) Either way, a nice touch IMO. One thing that distracts slightly is the slant, I'm thinking maybe the shot would be a little stronger if the window were straight? I'm undecided about the green "tone" in the pic. I don't think it hurts the shot really, but I am unsure if it really helps it a lot.

Very nice! I like this shot a lot. Interesting little subject, simple and uncluttered by any distraction. Great focus. The slant of the shed is great. It looks like it could collapse at any moment, and it makes for nice lines opposing the angle of the straight roof. The weeds are cool. Their color is pleasing and is a great compliment to the colors and texture of the wood on the shed. They also match the angle of the slant of the shed, extending those lines. Makes for a nice trail for the eye to follow. Good job.

Nice subject. I like the tone of the shot. I like how you've got the barrell and tree in the foreground, it adds some interest to the shot. I think you've chosen a nice composition here. Works pretty good. Just a tiny nitpick, I wish the top peak weren't cut off, bit I don't feel it is a major problem at all, very minor. Good job.

A very good idea. Fits the challenge well IMO. I think however the background which seems very busy takes a lot away from the shot. Try simplifying things and isolate your subject more. :-)

Your title tells the story, but I'm sorry, without it the photo doesn't really say "'In the beginning" at all to me. It kind of looks like a snapshot someone on vacation might take.
