This is an excellent shot. Nicely done. It is a strong image and, based upon that alone, I think it should have finished higher. However, take it from someone that has entered a few shots this year taken at protests, you are bound to get some votes that are affected by the voter's political biases no matter how good they are photographically.

Well suited to the challenge and nicely spotted and processed. I think a little healthy competition is not a bad thing. I think often the issue (IMHO) is that women have been denied the opportunity to compete. Congrats on the unexpected ribbon.
