You should have taken a little more time with accuracy in your color.
Prior to the year 2000, the Orange color, in hex value, was fe4101.
From 2000 until present, it is df6108. Your entry was e85100.

Close, but no field goal.

Little girls are pure joy to photograph.
I like the attention her eyes bring here, looking out of frame, framed by the window behind her.

Good thing you aren't a 40-yr old dude - that really would be creepy!

;)

I am always at odds shooting kids candid, especially young girls, and have had the Poway Sheriffs called out before, and they are sorta' getting to know me , so it is making it a little easier, but still get the feeling like I'm doing something wrong when I aim my camera.

Women DO have an advantage with a camera.
A woman can aim a camera at a stranger, man, woman or child and that person feels flattered.
A man aims a camera at a stranger, man, woman and especially children, and we get the pervert looks/questions.

Sigh

Priceless shot!

2 suggestions:
1) clone out the white "scratch mark" over her eye (clone in darker mode would do well here)
and
2) Print and frame it !

Skip mentioned not being connected more due to a lack of emotion, yet the longer I sit and study this, the connection strengthens, wondering what's going on behind those beautiful eyes. I would have never paid any attention to the close proximity to the background had I not read it below, and even then, still don't really see it, as her gaze and those golden locks of hair keeps my attention.

Guess I'm saying I can't find fault in this wonderful portrait Judy.
Adding to my favorites.

Hi Jon,

Have a PS tip for you on how to remove the halo around her sleeves and such (if it's of interest).
Use the clone tool, set to darker mode, small, soft-edged brush, and sample just to the outside of the area that is light, and then clone away over the halo part. In darker mode, it will only replace the pixels that are lighter than the sampled section, so worrying about going outside the lines like on the jacket/sweater won't change. Vary the strength of the tool, sometimes 50% works, sometimes you can go to 100%.

It's a real quick method and precision isn't needed. In the area around the pull loop for the zipper, you can sample way over to the left, in an area of about the same density/tones, and clone darker over the whole thing, as it will only darken the lighten pixels. It's almost as easy as sampling way over to the left, on an even horizontal line from the corner of the lens, and go over to the lens and clone all the way down to her pants in one step.

This is a great shot of Kat!
Me thinks she should "borrow" this shot and use it as her profile pic.

She's Goofy?? Nahhhh - no way.

Good action shot, but this on is headed for a disqualification - basic editing, single image only. Shame, as this is a good Triptych, which we just finished.

Priceless Ken.
A bit of toning on this, and it would look like something pulled out of Grandpa's cigar box.
