I like your idea. The shadows are real killers here, as are the reflections. . If you can't light the background, then you should move the subjects farther away from the background to minimize the shadows. I think the plastic cup detracts from the image - I get it without the cup.

I see one that is more ripe than the others. It's a stretch for me to call it old -vs- new though. For the challenge, not so good. As an image, well done, good use of light.

I like your concept of the old and new. The color and focus is spot on. Personally, I don't care a lot for your choice of compostion, I don't think this should have been off-center - I tried moving it on my screen and found the image in portrait with the negative space to the left removed, to be much more pleasing. Also, I think there should have been some more room at the bottom as the lowest grape looks crowded. Still, a good try - 7

There is a magenta cast to this photo, particularly evident on the tree trunk.

I think the photos should work without the title, and I don't think this one stands on it's own. Not that it's a bad photo, the diagonal is a good element. The ice is perhaps a bit over-exposed. 5
