Fogstarby lynnesiteComment: From my perspective, this is possibly the most powerful image in the challenge. The physique of the horse is well defined. You've captured a powerful movement defined by the mane, the tail, and the legs. The lighting is subtle which works very well with the color of the animal. The foggy setting suggests the power of the animal might not be observed, and makes me wonder what inspired this particular movement ... adds interest to the photo. Well done. Among my top picks. I worry this may not get the votes it so richly deserves. Looking at the thumbnail, it would be easy to miss the full size version. And voters here seem to be drawn to photos with more vibrant color. Whatever the outcome, I hope you will feel proud of this photo. |

Green Appleby xcharrierComment: This is a simply elegant image. There are a few niggling things I might critique, but in the end they don't diminish this fine image. Well done. Among my top picks. |

On the prowl.by dickelComment: I liked this photo from the moment I first saw it. I like the composition of the cat turning back on itself. I like the DOF which blurs the cat's body as background. It seems to be very well post processed avoiding the errors of overdoing it. Well done and among my top picks. That being said, you've lost sharp focus on part of the head. It would be a little stronger, in my opinion, if the sharp DOF included the whole of the cat's head. It is easy to criticize and much harder to execute. And your execution is brilliant, so don't let this minor critique trouble you. |

Irinaby StephenJamesComment: You've done a very nice job conveying attitude and emotion is this photo. Something that's not that easy to do. Focus is very good. Textures are good. Composition is good. Levels and lighting are good. And all those technical "goods" come together to create a great photo. Well done. Among my top picks. |

Antelope Canyonby tfaustComment: This is among the most beautiful images in the current challenge. The composition is extraordinary, as is the range of color and light levels. Focus seems virtually perfect to me. DOF brings the eye forward in the photo rather than letting it escape into the light. Well done. Among my top picks. |

Under the Old Oak Treeby Studio18Comment: I am not normally a fan of B&W. (If God intended we shoot in B&W, He wouldn't have invented Kodachrome!) But in this case, the B&W was a superb choice. The framing of the scene with branches overhead and the dark foreground is magnificent. There is an interesting juxtaposition of emotion going on here ... the dark framing elements are ominous, but the lighter distant subject is peaceful, pastoral even. Makes for an interesting photo I would return to often, and look at longer. Focus and DOF are terrific. Museum quality. Among my top picks. |

Totonac Headdressby LeighroyComment: The detail in your photo is exceptional. The DOF is virtually perfect. Colors are vibrant. Composition is quite good. But all that aside, it makes me feel good. Thanks. Well done. Among my top picks. |

The Shooters Of Slot Canyonby TommyMoe21Comment: Wonderful image. I have seen many like it over the years and I'm always appreciative when they are well done. You've gone a step beyond by showing the photographers. At this site and for this audience, I believe it was a brilliant compositional move. Firstly it lends a sense of scale to the photo which is rarely done. Secondly, it adds some life to the photo. Among my top picks. |

Aged Giantby ngremourComment: Very nice image. I like your use of shadows to creat a somber expression. Dark background shows off the subject very well. This is among my top picks. That being said I am troubled by the border. To me it is an awkward thickness. It reminds me of a National Geographic border but it would need to be thicker to complete the metaphore. Or it ought to be thinner so as not to over power the photo. The border helps, but it could have helped more. |
