Peaceful Ice Bergby ltuddenham001Comment: In a week I travel to Antarctica. I hope I see icebergs as lovely as this! You have done a splendid job capturing my platonic ideal of an iceberg. The contrast with the sky is very powerful. The forground (iceberg)/background(sky) tension adds interest to the photo. The light levels in the iceberg and what they reveal about the ice is fascinating. Well done! Among my top picks. |

Flight by jemisonComment: You have captured the morning light so perfectly here, I am stunned. The baloons are fine and do no harm. The sky is fine and does no harm. But the reality is that they are simply context for the bottom 2/3 of the image which is superb. Well done. Among my top picks. |

Seabirdby ZoomdakComment: Possibly my favorite image of the challenge. It has great drama. It's a right-place-right-time photo. Very nice light levels. Good composition although the bird didn't fully understand the rule of thirds. I am not generally a fan of B&W (If God had intended us to shoot B&W, He wouldn't have invented Kodachrome!) but it works very well here. Well done! |

Indo-Chineseby GaiaComment: To my eye, this is the "best of the cats." Well done. Good well balanced composition. Great color. Nice range of light levels. And you managed to catch a "regal" expression ... a sort-of "I never did mind the little things" expression. Great capture and presentation. Among my top picks. |

The Calm Before the Stormby buckwheatComment: This setting (or one very nearly like it) has been photographed so often it has become cliched. Still, you've done a very nice job capturing this now-traditional setting in a way that makes me see it anew. The clouds in the distance and the light sky below them are dramatic. The reflections are virtually perfect. The composition has a nice balanced feel to it. Well done. Among my top picks. |

Dark Riderby egillbjarkiComment: I confess I am a motorcycle enthusiast. I was initially attracted to the thumbnail thinking this was a chopped bike. Seeing the full sized image, I liked even better applying this style to a bicycle (the prototypical symbol of innocense) juxtaposed with the tough guy "biker" image. Great idea and well executed. Among my top picks. |
