downward spinby xtineComment: Absolutely outstanding photo. Better as landscape IMHO however. |

no trespassingby arsenalComment: Easy does it on the sharpening. This is just my opinion but to me it looks way over sharpened. Backing off a bit would have improved it. |

I smell a treat!by bmartuchComment: I'm sorry. There have been a bunch of pet-nose-pictures here lately. None of them have knocked my socks off. So this photo was handicapped from my point of view from the start. Having said that, it does a pretty good job making me feel the texture of the fur in the top 2/3 of the photo. It is well lit. Tonal range is good. And it avoids the all-too-common-sin in this challenge of over sharpening. Soft focus due to shallow DOF in the bottom 1/4 of the photo weakens the overal impact for me. You exhibited good technical talent with this. Keep shooting, learning and improving. And watch your scores improve! |

Dirtby MadMan2kComment: This could have been an interesting shot. But lighting wasn't your friend. The lighting is pretty harsh. It is from a direction that created minimal shadows, and hence the true texture wasn't revealed very much. IMHO, this would have been a better photo in natural light near sunrise or sunset when the light is low in the sky. That would bring out the texture. I am also curious about the background, black in the photo. What would have been revealed with higher ambient light? |
