Kd . 7by LOWLANDSComment: Dislike the "distressed" look of the photo. The border and the "lens dirt" give it a "look" which seems incongruent with the subject matter. I am sure you will hear other opinions, but this is mine. |

Rain Over Bangkokby BobsterLobsterComment: It is a dramatic image, nicely composed, with a dramatic sky, but over processed IMO. The thing that troubles me is its oversharp appearance. |

Chicago Architectureby DigiFotoBuddyComment: IMO the border overwhelms the photo. Black part is too bold (size and color), the white part too thick. The Chicago skyline is interesting but there is too little of the canvas devoted to it. Just my opinion. |

Merlinby dragonladyComment: Am allergic to cats. Don't like 'em. But it's hard not to like kittens and you've got a GREAT capture here! Well composed. Well focused. Well processed. |

The Gamblerby fotomann_foreverComment: This picture does a nice job capturing the ethos of the slots. It tells a story. And it creates an emotional response in me. Very good job. Hope I'm wrong but I fear it won't score well here. I, for one, am giving it a good score! Good luck! |

Nature's Beautyby jjusaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
I didn't vote your photo but it got a score I think is about right. It more or less met the challenge, but didn't use selective desat to draw attention to something that would not have recieved it otherwise. It didn't use the technique to show me something new, or develope a new perspective on an old genre. If it had, it would have scored higher.
In my thinking, there is a bit of a disconnect between the title and the photo. But I may be simply notting getting what you were after. |

EDELWEISSby SACComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
Looking at your portfolio, you have an affinity for flower photos. Fantastic. There are many many (and many more) flower photos here. It is a difficult genre and one I wish I could do better with. But to score well with this subject, you need (IMHO) to ratchet up your technical skills.
Selective desat's purpose is to draw attention to something that would otherwise not attract attention. In this particular case, the centers of the flowers would have recieved appropriate attention due to the subject matter and you composition.
You haven't used this technique to tell a story, to show me the world from a new or unique perspective. That would have wowed me.
This is my personal opinion ... If there's a God, he created flowers with color and spectacular shapes and fragrances to attract attention. Let you photos attract the intention God might have hoped for. settle for nothing less. |
