Hoping for rainby neehaiComment: Nice dusty shot with good action. When you have the chance to spot edit I would dodge the dog as to bring a little bit more attention to him. Also some of the left side could be cropped out a little bit as it does not add much to the image. Maybe up to the right side of the second tree from the left. Good job. 10. |

001.jpgby zerodeanComment: HOLY COW! I was doing some random DPC photo searching and came across your portfolio. Some AMAZING stuff! I had a look through your website and the portraits are outstanding. Carmella struck me as a stunning model with amazing technical lighting. The twenty photos from her shoot are absolutely phenomenal. What eyes! Well done. If you could PM me on some techniques of yours I'd be honored to take some tips. Once again, stunning shot (adding to favs). Welcome to DPC..Can't wait to see what you will bring to this site.

seagull.jpgby faidoiComment: Very sharp and great exposure. If you want to leave it centered, I would rop a tiny bit off of the right side. |

Paw Feetby ccaseyComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Let me say first off that this is very cute! I have a soft spot for furry little animals (especially puppies)!
The soft focus was definitely a unique and good choice for this photo. Whether it was done in a photo editing program or with a filter, it works very well. If you know in advance that you will be using soft focus for an image, you need to get what you want in focus entirely in focus. A smaller aperture would have made the paw and your feet in focus. Soft focusing subjects that are already out of focus tends to overdue it because soft focuses places a subject slightly out of focus.
I like the lighting/background a lot. Although parts of your big toes seem slightly blown out, the light works very well. Having the neutral black background leaves the viewer to focus on the focal point and that's exactly what you would want.
Another thing that makes this photo unique is the use of selective sepia tonation. This adds even more mood to the photo making it very strong by bringing out the reds.
Overall, I enjoy viewing this image. You got zero ones and one two so by that you know it was a strong image. Keep up the good work. :)

Splish Splash ... Ahh ... The Joys of Summerby flip89Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Hello. Let me first of say that I really like the lighting in this image. It is very wise to have the transparent water backlit and it workes very nicely here. Also the way that the light plays on the water adds a nice texture and makes this piece all the more interesting, but I do think that there is a little bit too much water included.
On the flipside, Ditial Quixote could not have said it better...the subject of the [hoto is actually not in the photo. Now I can see your reasoning for this crop/composition---to emphasize the theme of "Feet" but that would not have been necessary. If a whole body was shown, face included, it would have strengthened an already small photo.
Besides that, this is still a very good piece with good use of shutter speed. Seems like you should go back here and shoot a few more times...I'd love to see more shots.

Tired, Hot, Dustyby newtune3Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of your commenters at the lack of interest in the subject of your shot. They are shoes and sometimes simplicity is very effective but unfortunately not in this situation. This is partially due to the crop which is a little bit unflattering leaving only the tops of your shoes.
The focus on the right shoe (crossed over so on the left side of the frame) is good. The DOF is deep enough to get some of the other shoe in focus which works nicely and it is also shallow enough to blur the background. The exposure is also done nicely, although the shadows could have been a tad brighter.
Overall, I believe that this image suffered from the lack of interest in it seen by the voters. In the future, it might be good to ask those around you for their input as everyday people. They'll tell you flat out if it is appealing or not. So this is a below average shot for you but we all make mistakes so better luck next time.
If you have any questions comments are concerns feel free to PM me.
