Window Seatby PaulComment: Great pose and lighting. I like the composition, except for the inclusion of the chair legs--all the action is happening in the top 3/4 of the photo. I don't think you would have lost anything (in terms of the challenge or otherwise) by cropping them out. Hard to know without seeing it, but that's my instinctive reaction. |

Not in the mood for this...by pjotre7Comment: The face appears weirdly smooth, which perhaps is all the weirder for the face/hands/hat being the only sharp parts of the photo. |

Poverty and Hopeby DCNUTTERComment: Love the grit. I gather the plant is meant to symbolize hope? It took me a minute to make that connection--would have liked to see the plant figure a little more prominently in the composition if it's to be conceptually half of the photo (as judged by the title). Possibly dragging out the end table/crate from the wall a bit would have been enough. |

Laid off and uselessby calculusComment: Hear, hear!
This photo definitely meets the challenge and is conceptually strong. Its greatest weakness is the flat lighting. I don't know what kind of equipment you have, but I've found that a $30 worklight bounced off something large and white can work wonders... |

Lazing on a sunny afternoonby GlanniComment: Holy goodness! I hope this photoshoot didn't take too long!
Wish you'd knocked out that branch in the middle of the photo... nice choice of color for the model's apparel. |

As a bonus, your outtakes can go straight into the Perspective challenge :D |

Waiting for the Councilby JohannesFrankComment: Awesome! I'm always delighted to see how landscapes can fit into a challenge. (No, really, I'm the biggest sucker for landscapes and I'd probably enter them in every challenge if I could.) I'm surprised you didn't clone out the light post. That's my only nitpick, thought--this works very well photographically, and it fits the challenge well, too. |
