IMG_4625-broomby Bear_MusicComment: I've actually wanted to make an end-of-broom macro shot work for a long time now, but none of my efforts ever came out as pleasingly as this one. I think it might be even stronger with a tighter crop on the top and bottom--to me, it's really about the yellows with the orange/black as framing. |

Purple Foxgloveby GeneralEComment: Agreed, this is very nice. Great rhythm in this image with the multiple blossoms; good sharpness and nice blur in the background. Is this in Washington? |

Thawing Outby MelonMusketeerComment: Goodness knows I'm a sucker for water drops. Nice creative choice to include water in two forms in this image--it's an interesting juxtaposition. |

Jun 18 - Cherryby hajekaComment: A photogenic subject, and a nice study in macro minimalism. What is your light source? I think softer light would flatter the gentle curves of the cherry. |

Tropical Flowerby The EskimoComment: Very nice. The colors and tones are strong here. You could do a whole series just of this scene. Some of the drops have particularly interesting diffractions--did you take any closer shots? I'd love to see them if you did. |

Baby Blue(s)by GrayEllaComment: Originally posted by PugPop: I really don't think this reflects the sprite of the challenge, everyone has two eyes. As a portrait, try getting about 10 or 12 feet from the subject and go with a f/8 (or so) setting. That would get most of the facial features in focus. Very important; focus on the eyes. That will make or break your portrait. Also use unsharp mask to sharpen the result. |
Just wondering how this comment could fail to be considered helpful. |

The Churchby whiterookComment: I wonder what this would have looked like if you got right up next to the stairs and shot from a low angle up toward the church at the widest zoom of your lens.

The Inner Sanctumby patio127Comment: Good choice on the backlighting--adds a lot of interest to a commonly photographed subject. What did you focus on?--it looks like it was the water droplet. It's lent a soft focus to everything that detracts from the photo. I'd have liked to see the edges of the petals sharp. Also, if you were shooting at 1/8000, why the ISO 800? You could have dialed down to 1/1000, plenty fast enough to avoid motion blur, and gone to ISO 100 to minimize noise and maximize the range of tones. |
