That Tickles Grandmaby nemesise1977Comment: here's a slightly pedantic but grammatically correct point of potential interest to some.
I take it that the title is meant to indicate the baby's reaction to her grandmother. In order for this to be expressed correctly, the title should be "That tickles, Grandma," because "Grandma" functions as a vocative (the person being addressed) and not as the object of the verb "tickles."
As it stands, the title says that "That" (presumably the baby) is currently tickling Grandma. I can imagine someone picking the baby up and rubbing it against Grandma, because the baby tickles grandma and makes her giggle. In this respect, the baby is kind of like a long piece of grass.
I suppose that's not what you meant, though |

Walls and Windowsby DianaBComment: tough call on the framing. I bet you're getting a lot more comments about that than you'd care to. I can see why you chose to give this photo that much space... I think it needs breathing room, too. I think just a *bit* smaller might have been better. This looks like maybe a 40px border... 20px is pretty common, but anything more than that is going to attract disproportionate attention. If this were framed, there'd be no other way to do it (and it would probably need an even wider mat), but I'm not sure it translates quite so directly to web viewing. |

Trioby jjbeguinComment: nice composition and perspective. there seems to be a bit of a green cast - some levels adjustments would have helped, or even just a swipe of the desaturation brush on the birds would have been enough. |

Intelligent Designby Army of nOneComment: Wow, best of the bug macros so far, and I've gotten through over 500 images. The detail on the wings is great, the harsh light on the right adds interest (and it's really interesting to see the same wings under a plurality of lighting conditions), and the non-flower backdrop helps a lot. The detail on the whole body is fabulous, and the head and thorax look gilded. I'm not entirely thrilled about the title because of its connotations, though that may be in part due to the political uproar in the U.S. surrounding a subject called by the same name. Great photo - good luck in the final rankings. This is top notch. |

Pigeon Headedby briantammyComment: wow, I never noticed that pigeons had such sharp beaks...
nice composition here, good use of shapes and space-
I think if there were still some detail on the bird, this photo would be stronger. |

Sunset Gardenby JudiComment: The understated crashing of the waves over the driftwood is just fabulous. The colors in this picture, especially on the rocks and in the water, are subtle yet rich and, really, perfect. Very fine work. |

Fire dancerby psychephylaxComment: the lighting is fantastic, but when combined with the foreshortening it makes this image read very poorly... I stared in great confusion for a while before I really figured out what I was looking at. The right foot is what really gets me. It's the most distinct body part in the image, and yet it was hard for me to tell what it was at first, and how it connected to the rest. It was obviously a piece of a person, but I just didn't know what. If the foot weren't visible, I could easily see this as an abstract, and I think it would be much stronger for it. |
