Once Upon a Time by JudiComment: I've often wondered how vehicles so often wind up on their backs. Still have no idea. Maybe to establish abandonment, don't even think of mounting a rescue. This is a great example of that ilk. The crisp black and white treatment, the lowering sky and the expansive landscape all combine to give this image power and finality. The foreground grasses establish necessary depth. Strong mood. Strong photograph. |

Barrow Begoneby jomariComment: Crisp example of deterioration. You can see the paint or plastic delaminating over time and weather. But the colors are still cheerful. Reminds me of fish evolving into land creatures, those first tentative steps - or revolutions in this instance. Nice image. |

reqiuem for an old bycicle by cutoutComment: Interesting image. I like the background buildings and the splash of red. The bright center feels a bit overwhelming. Maybe it's a shaft of light to transport the bike to bike heaven. A good photograph. |

Long Forgottenby DCrest01Comment: Yes it's abandoned, but this rail car appears kind of sprightly. As a matter of fact, since it's emerging from the outright oblivion of the upper left corner, there's almost a sense of resurrection here. The colors are rich, and the semi-circle of green further enlivens. The composition is well-balanced.
At first I saw the chock in front of the left wheel - from our perspective - as a human hand. Happy Halloween.
Excellent image. |

a wall I once neededby posthumousComment: This skittish image, aside from the calm spray of leaves in the lower right corner, took awhile to settle into coherence. The multitude of tiny leaves on the left transitioned through the somewhat larger rocks of the wall into those large, well-defined leaves on the right. I see the highlit tree in the wall's opening as your spirit passing out into the sunlight, as a new life beckons. Black and white is a fine choice, yet this photograph seems full of color. And what a strong title. I'm happy for your beautiful passage.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |

Change of heartby SistoComment: Beautifully put together memorial to Tom. Colorful and cheerful.
I saw him and the Heartbreakers in concert in late July and this makes me smile. |

A One Story Townby PennyStreetComment: Interesting take on a NYC image. Fine study of light and perhaps isolation. Strong yet subtle composition blending light and shadow, movement and people. There's a certain unexpected quiet pervading the scene. |
