and she was by jagarComment: The thirds here flow into position as this interesting-looking woman stops for a moment. Composition, contrast, light, texture, concision, and sympathetic observation - all harmoniously work together here. I especially enjoy how her shadow seems to take flight. A modest gem.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |

transience and imperfectionby skewsmeComment: Thank you for your responsive comment on my comment, which educates me on this tendency of watercolors to often blur in the background. I suppose the paint can be wetter or dryer as it's applied, or for reasons I'm not aware of. Mine is a good example of limited knowledge undercutting criticism, sincere as it may be. Best of all, now I can appreciate your image with fresh eyes. |

Wiscasset Calmby Bear_MusicComment: Heightened and a bit garish, but I like the straightforward flair, the colors, the wide perspective and the dancing sky. Unabashedly sure of itself. Very enjoyable. |

swinging is funby pgirish007Comment: Expressive and intimate moment with the focus on the women nicely advanced by lightening and fading out the surrounding scene. The painterly treatment simplifies detail into solids and planes. Enjoyable and warm. |

The American Westby MelethiaComment: Fine foreground, strong and brightly colored in a dry zone, backed by the varied blues of water, mountains and sky. Nice western feel. The choppy texture in the sky is a bit distracting. Very attractive, though, overall. |

Homeby glad2badadComment: Some might say the painterly treatment here is over the top, but I like how it brings out interests contrasts. It's an interesting take on a quiet moment in an everyday scene. |

preludeby jmritzComment: Sharp, assertive image that, though starkly realistic, also has an abstract feel due to the bold shapes and colors. What a good eye is at work here. The lighting effects are beautifully handled. Fine stuff. |

Pollockmonetby posthumousComment: I like all the flickering detail and the attention to the humble grass and undergrowth, just as important as towering oaks and spreading fields of poppies. I also appreciate the mating of wildly dissimilar artists. But I do find it a bit washed out, though I believe the over-exposure is a deliberate artistic statement. |

Aunt Mary’s Cafeby GeneralEComment: Jarring and electric, this edgy image holds together rather nicely. The figures are comfortably placed and the composition is complex, organized on the basis of color as much as physical form. Strong photograph. And thanks for the frame. |

Take a Walk in the Forestby illini75Comment: Great motion in this somewhat hectic image. It feels more like running than walking. Maybe I should say exciting rather than hectic, as it also evokes the sense of being chased through these sunny, pretty woods. It's a fine scene and an interesting concept. |
