Early Springby GolferDDSComment: Fake, because the mongoose and the Irish elk do not exist together in the wild. Also, the mongoose is extinct.
Interesting. The leftmost squirrel and the background trees are throwing sharp shadows, whereas the deer aren't. I like how this image straddles the line but allows for detective work to possibly avail. A happy day in the park. |

Coffeeby DistantColoursComment: Real, as since ancient times we have been receiving coded messages in our coffee from aliens -- from outer space, that is. This one, in Sumerian, advises us to never walk under ladders. Recently a Persian shepherd in the Zagros Mountains received a message, written in Finnish, implying that whistling while you work is quite likely counterproductive.
Real, as what can't baristas do. Creamy image nicely set off by the dark blue background. |

and then she shot themby mitalapoComment: Fake, because there's nobody in front of that device of which to capture an image. And I don't believe in ectoplasm, except at night, and this is clearly daytime.
Don't know. Why take this unexceptional image if not to mess with our minds? And so I find it mystifying, and a personal provocation. Just kidding. I'm cool. I like the black and white treatment, especially of her blond hair and splayed hand. |

Georgeby tvsometimeComment: Fake, because a dachshund can't cast the shadow of a German Shepherd, except in some hideous other dimension where clothespins cast the shadows of insurance salesmen. Shudder. And I wonder... Also, the dog's name is Ralph.
What's going on here? That pooch is up to something. Very interesting how the shadow is more a focal point than the dog. And man, is he cute. The dog. |

From the outside looking inby AmmieComment: Fake. Why would Kim Kardashian care what's going on beyond this tiny window in this hardscrabble abode? Return to your pleasure palace in Hollywood, you minx!
Curious, evocative image, both enthralling and unsettling. I certainly have no idea if this is real or fake. I especially like the feeling that the window frame is made of amber. |

nexusby tangueraComment: Obviously fake, because in my experience I've never had to take a staircase to cross over that eastern tower of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Looks real enough, but I've never fully trusted those devious Brooklynites. When I lived there for a few years I didn't even trust myself. What could be up this photographer's sleeve?
I like the gray and russet bridge, with it's glorious tangle of cables, against the steely blue sky and skyline. It's quite evocative. Nice. |

Drawn or Photoshopby ladpupmoeComment: Gonna go with photoshop, because the human hand hasn't the deftness required to produce the stippled effect of the background. Oh, maybe with a stipulator, but that technically wouldn't be the direct art of the hand.
A tossup, as both are possible. Interesting view of these two lizards, a moment in time. If they are pets, I think it wise to zip their mouths shut, as they're capable of quite the nip. |

Last Impressionsby posthumousComment: Real. This is an electron microscope image of Maxwell Planck's cerebellum, as evidenced in the foreground by his preoccupation with Planck's Constant. In the background we can see a vivid example of electron entanglement, which Einstein called "spooky action at a distance." Sure 'nuff.
I guess this is real, unless those trees in background are actually broccoli stalks. Mysterious and unfocused, I'm waiting to hear more. |

What are the oddsby PennyStreetComment: I'd say one in thirty-four. Unless, due to evolutionary happenstance, these are fish, similar in appearance to homo sapiens, which carry about their oxygen supply in modified gills. In that case, real.
Baffled. Flits back and forth across the line. Maybe this is real and set up. They seem to be enjoying their roles is this charade. I like the close focus on the woman in front. |
