Tennis anyone?by JudiComment: Good choice of subject, that chain of tennis courts. I feel compelled to see them as postage stamps, or the old green stamps given out at supermarkets to be glued into books to be later redeemed for toasters and stemware. Also has the feel of looking out an airplane window on final approach. |

Highway by SistoComment: This image is the most convincing miniaturization of the challenge. I could swear the vehicles are plastic and the fields flocked greenery. An apt choice of subject. How'd you get the river to actually look like water? |

Elfin Cityby GeorgesBogaertComment: The tilt-shift picks out a neighborhood amid the immense urban sprawl, so the viewer can draw a breath for some moments. I less notice the buildings than the pinpricks of light, a binary code eruption. And the sunbursts, which generally leave me unmoved, here in miniature are very pleasing. It's wonderful how you've tamed the bustling immensity. |

Track for somewhereby pgirish007Comment: Not despite the modest subject of focus, but because of it, I find this image endearing. Also, because it embraces the typical miniaturization of model railroading. And then the subtle interplay of the variety of lines can also be appreciated. I find gazing into this picture to be calming.
Second favorite of the challenge. |

Landing placeby NeatComment: Wonderful image. It would still be fine without the tilt-shift effect, but here the spoonbill (I think) just landing is imbued with dignity, wonder and intimacy. The width of the tilt-shift is perfect. The back wing blurs into the shoreline, or raft of water vegetation, as do the feet just disengaging from the silky cloud of reflection. The sharp zone also features the clumps of vegetation and the anchor of the farthest left vegetation. The bird's mate and chick move dreamily just out of reach. The disposition of light and dark is interesting and harmonious. The background strip has the feel of looking edgewise into a galaxy.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |

A Shelter in the Stormby mefnjComment: The everyday made memorable by going silhouette as the sun goes down (or rises) and the sky goes opalescent. Charming. |

survivorby tvsometimeComment: The old swaddled in the new, but I'm guessing the church is saying "no thank you." This upward perspective lends a sense of pride and fortitude, truly a survivor. The modest palette is very pleasing. |

house of worship by mitalapoComment: Rocking to the music or in a religious fervor? The clever tension here is engrossing because the two have such great overlap. But this is surely a fine portrayal of the emotional energy. The blue beam is wonderful. Nice |
