Barb and Alby HUETHComment: It's nice when the subjects could be, but aren't, looking directly at the camera. What captivates me here is the modesty of the closely receding planes and the gently oblique lines of the fences. The is why it feels so comfortable and complete. I'm wondering who's in charge here. |

who's there?by mariucaComment: Quirky and interesting. The pictures, eternally floating and in mid-pose, are the neighbors. The vertical support pipes provide rhythmic composition. I especially like the yellow flowers in the lower corner. |

jump on itby PennyStreetComment: Great -- much of the time -- to have children as neighbors. As implied here, they bring additional dimensions of activity, fun, joy, noise and friendship. So here I believe you've captured the moment that expresses the essence. It's elliptic and partially hidden, immediate and unself-conscious. Additionally, there's the subtle texture of viewing the scene through a screen door or window. I always enjoy this type of image. |

Eddie by rooumComment: Pleasant composition, centralized as it is, for it underscores Eddie's calm and self-assurance. The varied blues and greens are nicely complemented by the lamp in its entirety. Aptly chosen depth of field. All told, a very fine image, even before we really make contact with the man. He seems to be someone who would be fun to engage in conversation, or even a passing hello. I believe you're fortunate to have him as a neighbor. |

pushby jmritzComment: A fascinating image to delve into (final prepositions aside). The grainy black and white sets the mood, populated by this gentleman stepping away from us. The murkiness in the middle is further established by the echoed lighting, bright lamp on the left and frosted glass panel on the right, which latter sharply divides the picture and hints at an outside world. Is this a home, an institution, a waiting room? It's the man in the murk that resonates. How much do we know of our neighbors? Of the other? Of our own "selves", awash in perceptions and opinions, desires and fraught assumptions?
All this is so satisfying. Personal favorite of the challenge. |

PITA (the cat)by GeneralEComment: This is a take that I can't say I go for, but I applaud your willingness to explore and experiment. |

Treedby MaryOComment: Not meant as a criticism, the entire image is kind of jittery, which then pulls back into abstraction, or at least that's how I see it. I like the overall dreamy feel to it, but I don't know if anyone else sees it so. |

Mona Lisaby GeorgesBogaertComment: A strange and interesting image that's processed to make the cat's coat look patchy and faceted. Is that a forest on its forehead? I really like the murky colors of the bottom of the photo. |
