Night Light

Comment:
The light's so very serene, not least because it's transitory. The sky's an ambrosia garnish on the morning. Homey and inviting. A great result from this shallow focus, nicely introspective.

Very interesting and mysterious, pregnant with symbolism. The white areas projecting outside the wall remind me of a stylized thunderbird. Very cool.

Are these buoys? Interesting still life that can do service as an abstract of intense realism. I like how they nestle within the vignette like eggs.

Impressive church interior. That's a lot of holy firepower if one needs a nudge towards heaven. I, for one, intend to accept any assistance.

That basenji look of concern, or flash of emotion. Life portrayed in its particularity, nonchalantly composed, yet none the sparser for it. Usually, in my travels, the upper portion of a photograph is more open than the bottom, but here all the trucks and cars are a chorus to the mood of anticipation. The tables and chairs flow along in a modest diagonal, as does the herringbone brickwork. Someone tell grandma bou bou needs a new sweater. And this time knit it of kevlar.

Your technique makes for an absorbing image, taking nothing away from the skill of your insight. It's dreamy and just out of reach. The yellow/gold bounding the right side is a bold gesture that satisfies the overall poignancy of the scene. The ropes (hawsers?) spanning the waterway sew together the left and right. The pastel colors of the structures in the background are icing on the cupcake. Like it a lot.

I like the way your lines divide the frame. Handsome light. The silhouettes of the birds against the ominous sky are, well, ominous. The birds on the crosspiece of the pole in the lower right is a nice touch. I tried for a bunch of birds in a tree this morning but they took obvious delight in yanking my chain.

Despite the dark upper section this appears to me to be high key. The young girl in her light-colored outfit examines her shadow, or maybe the sparkling ground about her, lost in the moment. The sense of serenity is apparent. I like how the pebbled ground catches the sunlight, bringing a sense of enchantment to the image. By any chance is this taken on the High Line in Manhattan? There's a section of shallow running water along the way .
My first impression, having run track in school, is that of a sprinter getting into her blocks at the start of a race.

Well done choreography of a large open space that's both quiet and visually busy. A real puzzle of interlocking lines, patterns and tones. The men's poses and activity echo one another. The mood is timeless despite their dives into technology and its impatience. Deftly balanced composition. A strong, confidant image, and very enjoyable.

Beautifully real even as it dallies fancifully with, to my eyes, out of kilter focus and exposure. The composition is marvelous, both graphically and emotionally, as you seem to compose an elegy as well as a valentine. Lovely tones. Tremendously moving. So unhappy.
