- - - -by krnodilComment: OMG OMG OMG! We're being invaded by aqueous blobs from outer space!! And they have Spanish accents!!! "A fence? Haven't you been listening? We need a big beautiful dome over America, and those other states. Canadians keep out! Maybe a shower curtain and paper towels for Puerto Rico. With a really complicated tracking system that allows the sun to shine only on Republicans, which'll keep down costs. I call it the "Trump Thunder, Lightning, etc. Dome." Tip of the hat to Reince Priebus for the suggestion; he's the new greeter at the White House. Be afraid. Whoooooooo! Be very afraid!!!"
So. A perfect portrayal of a rainy day. Like in NYC today, too. Life certainly goes on, just wetter and grayer. The prominence of the raindrops, on glass, I presume, seems like dots on the bottom of exclamation points. I love the ground before the fence, the subtle beauty of browns and greens. Peaceful. It's just like looking out my window. Well, without the cars. buses and other buildings. And our beloved birch and dogwood.

out of milkby Ecce_SignumComment: Show us how it's done. A wonderful image pulled from the magic hat of daily life. I love the heavily grained shading of tones. The basket of bottles is a bundle of tulips left at the door of one's inamorata -- but no, even better, it's just what it is. The beginnings of a centrally divided photo are playfully batted aside by the bottles in the doorway. An engaging sensibility. |

That's the bottle that's so wondrous, with its mesmerizing tones, shapes, lights and fascinating grain. It's amusing how the bottles crowd the frame, jostling like teenagers in a photo booth. |

a coupleby ubiqueComment: Shimmering and ethereal, this puts me in mind of a waiting room in heaven. The abundance of delicate tones and outpouring of light add to this feeling. Their faces are rapt, but in actuality there seems to be concern, too, in their expressions. Fascinating technique and unusual scenario. Perhaps there's a backup in Paradise. Highly compelling. |

sur le plage 2by tnunComment: Affecting childhood moment made the more so by the boy's overlapping position. Just as it is, draining the image of pretension and remove. The grainy treatment helps it seem to be an instant heirloom, already distant in the past. Not to distract from its artistry but, adorable. |

Pauseby RKTComment: Magnificent in its simplicity. This would be close in expression as a line drawing. The light and colors are lovely. Her pursed lips makes one wonder. Her eye, amidst a thicket of lashes, is soft beyond compare. I would like to return to this little girl when I sink into cynicism. |

Blindfoldedby posthumousComment: I appreciate any picture with a dog in it. Before we got our own dog, and the obsession faded, I'd yell at TV commercials that used them as props, when they turned to highlighting the product, "Show us the dog!" And I favor this type of unstudied intimacy over the "here's my dog" type of shot. Though I've certainly happily posted the latter. Anyway, I appreciate this approach. In addition, I like the grass that fills the rest of the image. I'm struck by the artistic use of blown out, or close to blown out, white in the overall emotional expression. It lends an intensity, as do really high notes, sometimes, in music. I enjoy this one. |
