I like the unexpected pairing of the cat and the plate, linked however by the blue toning. The shadows are neat, taking blur to the next level. I also like the composition, the balance between cat and plate and the shape of negative space. The speckling in the middle is a bit distracting. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/15/2018 08:18:03 PM | Colour is its own rewardby ubiqueComment: More than a picture of a painting, the painting serves and delineates the mood of the image. The colors (as we philistines write) are certainly beautiful, those muted blues, greens and whites. And special appreciation for the reflected blue caught by the back of the wicker chair. At the bottom are rich browns, drifting into black, supporting the upper delicacy. The furniture is softly echoed by the bench or table in the painting. Is the antelope skull just hanging there? In a sleight of hand, or eye, it also looks like a bird flying through a window and into the painting. My overwhelming impression is that this is perfect for "The Unbearable Lightness of Being." All categories aside, this is simply absorbing and poetic. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 04:01:15 PM | Full Moon and Palm Treeby GermaineComment: This gentled, wind-blown palm seems to be moonstruck. It's a lovely, organic abstract. The color of the sky, too, is magical. And the moon, wherever it originated, broadcasting its honeyed glow, is a fine counterpoint. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 03:51:37 PM | ephemera.DSCF0080by mariucaComment: An intriguing and entrancing still life. I like the bright sunlight and deep shadows, the silhouette of the evergreen on the right, the shadowed leaves at left center, the brown, raindroppy background and, of course, the startling spectral reflection. Everything works well here to a rewarding image. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 03:40:02 PM | Mixed Farming - Wind and Cattleby jomariComment: Well-composed and graphically very stylish. A lot of subtle motion here - the pinwheeling wind vanes, the sinuous road, the gently sloping hill and the grazing cows before and at the horizon. The dark green vegetation, with a stone wall, perhaps, establishes a strong foreground the secures the journey into the image. The motion shadows of the vanes add a distinctive whimsy. The huge blue sky is beautiful. Why is that farthest wind vane blue? Camouflage? It all comes together so well. It would be a great poster. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 03:22:38 PM | Mushroomby hajekaComment: Terrific depth of focus, with the mushroom cap seemingly glowing from within against a beautiful green bokeh. The foreground vegetation in sharp focus provides an anchoring entrance into the image. The mushroom cap is extraordinary, with its delicately tinted scallops and ethereal glow making it a beacon for those tiny denizens, pixies and such, of field and forest. Attention is rewarded. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 03:09:53 PM | A1010527-Editby MAKComment: This shot looks like it was taken in the same vicinity as a recent submission of yours (#46, Nov. 10). While I prefer the earlier image because of its dynamic diagonal, composition and yellow-leaved tree, this one has very nice aspects. The brown color of the vegetation along the church wall and swinging around to the lower right, the cows in their enclosure and the foggy mountains set the mood well. It's a pretty countryside, and you do it justice. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 10:22:40 AM | Piratesby NikonJebComment: Aargh, what a fun, stirring sight. Perfect, in its own idiosyncratic way. It has a jubilant, devil may care sensibility. The water is quite becoming, softened around the periphery as it is. The blue tone is a terrific choice. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 10:13:10 AM | - - - - by krnodilComment: I love this image, hard to get hold of as it is. It's beautiful and mysterious. The shape or form in the upper left seems to be an animal head, looking right, its eye and snout discernible. At least that's how my mind strives to make sense of it. It peeks out of the bedroom closet, the forest, the cosmos. The swirling tones, created by light and grain, are a marvel. That your method of capture could bear such a result, seen and developed by your discerning eye, of course, is wondrous. A hundred superlatives. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/14/2018 09:58:03 AM | Axby hajekaComment: The vertical wood and ax are fine as a focus, but what I really like is the background stack of firewood. Interestingly, this realistic quasi-pattern functions as a sort of bokeh. It flies in the face of our usual expectations, but there you have it. I find this development, at least in my limited experience, exciting, opening up novel possibilities. Wood tones are naturally harmonious, as is expressed here. Thank you. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
