I think Marjo is right; there is no visible horizon line, but the image appears to be tilted a tiny bit CCW. Fortunately, she is also right about this being a beautiful photo. :)

I love the detail in the feathers; it even shows in the reflection. The reflection itself is great too.

How do you manage to get so close? There are lots of herons nearby on the Columbia River, but they're camera shy and not easy to get close to. I guess maybe we're just too noisy. :)

Anyway, congrats on a moment well captured.

A beautiful photo of a beautiful animal. Well done! Some small catchlights to add a bit of life to the eyes might make it even better.


There are some light reflections, at least in the one eye. Maybe a little sharpening would bring that out more. Anyway, just a thought.

This is a wonderful shot. The look of true innocence on this cute little girl's face is priceless! My only nitpick would be the wrinkles and creases visible in the background material.
