Wow, I really like this image! Vibrant colors, nice composition--it works! Although, you’re probably going to get slammed for doing something so non-conformist, I applaud you for it. Good job!

P.S. I think it would have been fine without the border. It's not a big deal to me, I just don't think it adds anything to the image.

I'm not sure how well this fits the challenge, but I like the image. A deeper DOF might have worked a little better.

An interesting idea. I like the background and the flames. Not sure about the choice of subject though. Just out of curiosity, what made you decide on a burning lure?

Cool idea! I think that a bit more flame would have made it really stand out. One of my favs as is.

..or heartburn. Seriously, I think this is a very good image. One of my favorites in this challenge. I like the softness of the flames. It fits the image nicely. If anything, I would have added just a tiny bit more space below the subject. Good work!

Composition: Good, if the subject of the photo is the large building. However, because of the challenge criteria, the water should have been the focal point of the image. Since the water is viewed at such an oblique angle the viewer’s gaze passes right over it. The other features surrounding the water also tend to lead the eye away from the water.

Technical Quality: Well done, although the focus seems a bit soft. The use of sepia works well with this image.

Meeting the Challenge: Room for improvement. The water should have been emphasized much more—perhaps by shooting from a different angle.

Creativity: Room for improvement here as well. Maybe a closer shot of the water, possibly from a different angle, would have worked better.

Overall: A very nice image, but it fails to rise to the challenge.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Regards,
Mick
