Pride for my Countryby amyrhComment: This has a snap shot feel to it. I like the clarity, the darling expression and the smooth skin tones, but in order for this to have a truly artful feel, it needs more thoughtful placement. The crop is tight and I think it would be much more effective if he were standing on a stage at his school, or perhaps outside, with more negative space and good DOF. Just some suggestions. The subject matter is really appealing - just needs better execution. |

Proud Fatherby holyfamComment: This is a cute picture, but it seems out of focus and overexposed. I'd like to see more texture, light and shadow variance on the boy's face. Tack sharp focus is essential for an effective portrait (and any photo for that matter). Maybe work on lighting so it's not so harsh. Or do it outside with early morning or late evening light. The crop is good and the crab adds a nice "boy" touch to it. |

Plockton Bayby gemeitComment: I like the metallic sense of the water. The single larger boat evokes a lonely sense. The lighting is beautiful. I love the misty low lying clouds in the background. The reflection of the masts is really awesome, as they are so long, they almost help divide the picture into segments. |

Memoriesby Dax-Comment: I love post editing like this. I am hoping we'll be able to have a challenge using such tools with a "no holes barred approach."
I like the image and the nostalgic sense that it evokes. Looks just like a post card! |

Autum Leafby dr3amzComment: I really like this. The crop at the top may be a tad too tight. The rich colors and detail of the leaf are showcased well here. |

A Dog Named Bearby ngefComment: The lighting on this is just outstanding. I love profile portraits too. Great DOF! This is perfect in every way. You'll get no critique from me. |

kaylaby crystaldmComment: What a cute toothy grin. Very genuine. The blue of her top is great contrast to the red of the playground equipment. Nice candid capture. |

Selfby elsapoComment: HEE HEE - I'm doing my son's and his friend's as well.
This one is really good. I like the posture and the brown on brown. I like how the corner crop adds to the diagonal sense of the line of your body. Nicely done. Sure beats those studio shots with the fake tux collar!!! |
