I'm surprised this one didn't do a bit better in the scoring. I really like the colors and composition and the focus seems right on. The darkness in the background is perhaps a bit distracting, but overall I like this one very much.

I really like shots like this, but I find they have to be done particularly well to carry off that "wow" factor. This one is nice, but doesn't give me the wow. I think it seems a bit too soft in the focus for my tastes and a bit too contrasty. I like the crop and composition.

Nicely done but I think I would have simplified the shot a bit, cropping in closer to the window with less black surrounding it. Also perhaps just a bit more sideways view of the model so that the book is more evident. Still, an effective and well done shot.

This is an okay night shot...but I have to say that I'm a little surprised it scored as well as it did. It appears a little crooked to me and there just doesn't seem to be much art to this shot...not a whole lot of interest to the subject, composition and presentation. I'm sure it was a cool thing to see in person, but I find this to be just average as a photograph. Apparently, many others like it more than me :) So I will say congratulations on a nice finish and score with this one.

The Petite Sophisticate

Awww...that hat adds wonderful interest and texture to this shot and she wears it well! I can see a few things (that you've mentioned) that using advanced editing would help the shot. However, as it is I feel it is still a strong portrait that really conveys some personality of the little girl. I also like that this little girl LOOKS like a little girl - and not some made up model-wannabe. Great job.

This has a really nice effect to it. I would clone out the leaf in the bottom left corner. The shading, the texture of the ice and the colors and lighting are all excellent!
