Beauty is a subjective thing, I know. In my scoring and comments I'm trying to score based on NOT whether or not I would think a particular subject beautiful, but on whether the photographer has succeeded in creating a beautiful photo. I look for the elements of color, lines, focus and dof interest, lighting, and a certain element of grace and lovlieness. I'm looking for a unique and creative appeal for the highest scorers. The description says to create a photo that makes the viewer think "that's beautiful", so it will undoubtedly be very subjective. (This is what I'm putting at the start of all of my comments, and I hope it is helpful.)

That being said, this is a slightly different approach to a floral shot and I think it works well with this particular bloom. I like the bit of faded color from the bloom in the background as well. For composition, I would like a little bit more cropped off the top, but that's really a matter of taste. Nice color and decent focus although not super clear. Above average for the floral shots IMO.

That being said, This is a very nice shot. I think I would have titled it "freckles" and they are lovely! I really like the turn of the head, the expression and the movement of the head. I'd like to see improvements in the lighting on the face. I like that you have some shadow and light, but I wish we had some light on the eyes. Overall, a real beauty.

That being said, this has a few really nice elements: the sky of course, the sillohuettes of the trees, the reflections and the water and the ducks in the foreground. I don't see this as a particularly unique or creative photo, but the view is certainly well above average!

That being said,I do like the soft focus here. I think it helps to add some feeling to a typical flower shot. It's pretty and it fits the challenge, but I don't find it particularly creative or unique.

That being said, I don't get a whole lot from this photo. I like the sheer fabrics, but I can't really tell what's happening here. I think part of the drawback for me is that there is a lot going on in the background. It seems to distract from the major elements of the front woman and the material. I haven't seen the color version, but these tones don't seem to add interest to the shot for me. I do like the unique subject and the flow of the material, but it just doesn't make me think "beautiful."

That being said, probably my first thought was that I wished this had more of a portrait orientation to sort of follow the movement of the water. It feel crowded at the top of the frame over the water. I really like the subject, the lighting, exposure and good focus and stop action. The tones, eh. I'm not sure on that one. Fits the challenge well.

That being said, this is really pretty. I like the yellow and peach tones. I think what I like best is the curves and diagonal lines of the flower's center. Great dof and focus. I like this one alot.

That being said, this isn't too bad. The really light part of the stem draws the eye and is not the best part of the shot. Actually, that whole right section of the plant really doesn't add anything from my perspective to the photo. I would have liked less on the right and left and a tighter crop on the leaves which do have interesting lines and texture and lighting.

That being said, This is a cool place in a great location. Certainly fits the challenge. I would have liked something of a more unique composition for this, rather than just straight on, centered in the frame. The colors seem somewhat muted as well.

That being said, this strikes me as more of a product photo, like what you might take to sell it on Ebay. Just a fairly straight forward shot with enough lighting to see the details. The red is a bit overwhelming and I think it detracts from your subject. It's not a bad shot, really. (I honestly don't even know what this is....looks like some sort of sword or something?) The angle, colors, and lines just don't convey beauty to me.
