GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

When I first saw this in competition, I exclaimed, "Ohhhhhh!" and gave you a high vote.

When I was lucky enough to get this in the critique queue, it got another "Ohhhhhhh!" and here I am, relatively speechless. About all I can do is sit here and admire this little beastie and appreciate what a good job you did in bringing out the critter details. I am especially glad that you catalogued your steps so others can learn from your example.

So, with that, I guess it's time to go on to the next person in line after saying "Thanks" for this fine image. It's a keeper.

greetings from the Critique Club

Well, you've been a part of the Site for just a few months now and already have entered a number of images in competition. Terrific.

You asked for a critique from a Critique Club member, so here I am...

You selected an interesting subject for your entry. Those nearly identical peaks make an intriguing study. You made quite a formidable barrier, though, in getting to look at them, with the straight line stand of trees and then an additional bunch of trees (?) to the lower right.

In fooling around with possible crops, I find that more attention would get to the peaks with a crop just below the straight line of trees (eliminating that bunch of trees to the lower right.) That would make your image more of a panoramic. try it and see what you think.

While that's a start, I do wonder if the mountains just lack enough focus or definition to get a viewer interested. They do have that gorgeous color, though, and that's a big plus.

So, all I can say is, "keep 'em coming." All this practice is going to result in some really good photography from you.
