To me this is just out of focus. Looks like perhaps the few hairs at the bottom of the nose are in, and/or above the eyes

Ha! When I read the lines in search for a topic, I thought of exactly those flowers, but then realized, these are lilac in color, but are not "lilac" the plant. Guess its all poetic license :-). I am not mad about the OOF front bit, just me.
