I had the same thought as Mary - great lines but jarring somehow. That's not necessarily bad, of course, and it certainly stopped both of us momentarily :) I would be tempted to play with 90 degree rotations and flips here to see what occurs. This is so nearly an abstract that pushing it further in that direction might work well. Like it.

I thought you lost just a bit too much detail in the face and I agree that a tighter crop would really help but I loved this shot - the action and expression on his face - and gave it a 7.
