Wonderful! No one mentioned the crop that takes exactly half the woman's face off - what divides us? or the pole that separates him from whatever is out there - what divides us? I would probably lose the small post in the background but absolutely everything else in this image contributes. Congratulations on the nice finish.

Thanks so much, Bill, for the thoughtful critique. I am probably pretty much with you on HDR images - I tried to stop short of going over the top as I really don't like that. I know I always process the skies separately as they always seem more problematic to me.

I did warm the earth and cool the sky - perhaps I over-did it but I really don't like skies with a yellow cast and the sky that day had that menacing dark blue color that immediately precedes a thunderstorm in the Midwest, Southwest, or West so I tried to get rid of it, possibly erring in that direction. I don't mind the tones, though.

Your comment about tonal range and contrast actually interests me more. I'm still feeling the scene falls a bit flat. I think you are suggesting I up the contrast to see what that does. I'll try, but I'd love more input.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond beyond the "like comment" check, but we have our granddaughter for the weekend every other week and this was the one - I spend almost all my free time enjoying her :) (And yes, she's hopelessly spoiled.)

I confess to having noticed the misspellings right away but I also loved the overall effect. This got a 7 from me and would have gotten more had there been a few more "poster" touches.

I gave this a 5 which is very average on my scale. I guess I was looking for a photo that I thought otherwise very good except for one (or maybe two) things. I hate to use the term "snapshot" here at DPC but that's what this felt like - just a kind of grab shot of the moment. I definitely didn't like the mike and noticed it but the other huge thing that bothered me was having the singer on top of the standing guitarist. Plus all the other junk in the image, especially on the edges where you could have gotten rid of it easily with a crop.

I wish there was a way to get a little more definition in the trees and dome - more windows and spaced branches or something. The silhouette is nice but a little heavy feeling.
