Vision at the window on a stormy nightby BenstedComment: it's true, i couldn't tell what i was supposed to be seeing until after the voting finished. I always do first round of voting blind and only check thumbs after. I wanted to see what this was like in a thumb as i wasn't sure if it was supposed to just be some 'spooky window', but i got the hint of an eye and couldn't make out the rest on my monitor. And i see that i'm not the only person to have made this observation.
I'm honest in my comments and scoring and I know it sucks when someone doesn't get or agree with what you're going for, but thats the problem with subjective mediums.
I truly love the thumbnail version of this - if i could get that same effect from seeing it full size this would've been a 7 or an 8, but as it only came together in a tighter package (thumbnail) then it's just missing that *something* during voting. I spent about 5 minutes looking at this before casting my first vote, and about 0.05 seconds to get the thumbnail.
At first i thought the ghost was the white thing that is the lady's nose, i couldn't unsee that as the focal point until the thumbnail, but what has been seen cannot be unseen after, i'm able to make out the details in the larger picture now, but it's still not as cohesive an image. wanderingby timfythetooComment: This shot definitely meets the criteria for "deserved a better score", especially given that it was taken with an iphone.

White Passionby ShawnaReneeComment: Fail to see how this guy is landscape.
if you're referring to his features as an abstract definition, you'll understand (i'm sure) how my score is an abstract definition as well. ;) |

Evening Calmby markwileyComment: They said "LAND" scape, not 'sea' scape. DNMC!!!!
;-)
joking, this is a nice pic, only real detracting point in my opinion is the depth between left/right side of log for the water. As such, there is a lot of clutter just beneath the surface on the right that is not as noticable on the left given the extension of the beach.
Still a 6/10 though, very serene! |
