First struck by a terrific title, I had to step back from this one, take it in, observe it without focus, full of scratches the imperfections.

I feel the warmth, the imbalance, the depth and the darkness. Copper, wood, hair, the intent, the mild and semi-sweet victories. We are all fighting the long and inevitable defeat, sunset after sunset.

I like the 90 degree rotation, the textures.

Who would hang such a skull on the wall? There is something soulless about an animal skull, and the malevolent demonic quality of horns is present. I get the feeling of the end of life, and this is the waiting room outside Death's office.

Souls

The figures in the windows(and on the stucco) do call to mind ghostly visages- certainly with an ominous feeling, that there is some presence here, possibly malevolent, possibly benign.

What strikes me is the cat. It adds the detail and flavor, it is looking down, but I expect that it can see the souls.

When will it end

I get an explosive, cinematic feel of loss and uncertainty. A journey, either life or some emotional turmoil, the title sets it up, the viewer gets to decide.

Compositionally, there is already a great deal of distance behind the subject, so we are left to empathize with the pain already suffered, and we are left with uncertainty about the road ahead, but confident the way is narrow and must be faced alone.

Firstly, I have read some Shakespeare, and, although I am getting older and more foggy, as I seem to remember, it does not go well for the star-crossed lovers.

Technically, the composition and concept is very well done, the sky tones and distortion are a bit off-putting.

As a whole, your picture may have more hope that the lovers, and if it means anything, although they have different balloon and shirt preferences, they both love jeans and snazzy sneakers. Maybe they can build on that.

The Chestnut

You have accomplished two things with this photo that I appreciated greatly in a second, longer viewing.

1. You highlight the regal and still beastly beautiful nature of horses.

2. Through use of composition, a black background, and light at the right spots to enhance detail, there is a lingering feel, and pleasing tonality especially in the spots on the horses face, where the pigment fails, and white gives way to pink nose and mouth flesh.
