Architecture: New and oldby eirasiComment: Meets the challenge, they are opposite types of buildings in many different ways. The shot itself leaves me wanting more POP, more wow. For a shot like this, with the glass and the blue sky I personally would expect to see much deeper colors and contrast, not sure why. Also the angle of the shot seems just off with the lines coming off at odd angles from the side of the picture. If you could have gotten a bit higher to balance that out more. Not sure if that was possible or not but if so maybe you could try again?
As the shot stands, I started it a 3 but am going to raise it to a 5 |

Rust Paintingsby KaveyComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
IT'S A FISH! That was my first reaction when this shot came up, the nut being his eye and the rust pocket next to it his mouth, LOL!
This is an interesting shot overall, it makes me want to stop and look, trying to figure out what you are trying to say. But the dull colors of the black overwhelm the shot in the end and it makes me rather sad, not sure why though. Maybe because I keep seeing the fish and he's not smiling, I just can't quite put my finger on it.
I tried using my magic envelopes and tried different cropping angles but that didn't work either. Maybe if the contrast was bumped up just a tad to really make the rust colors pop out and the black really deep. Capturing the fly in the shot was just luck, the fish is getting ready to eat! I'm sorry but I just can't get that image out of my head now! ;)
Not sure how helpful this was but if you do make any changes to the shot, please let me know. Thanks! ;)

Metallic Constellationby labudsComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
No time huh? Wow, well, you are certainly going to make me eat my words from an earlier thread. I would love to see what you did to creat this image. My guess is foil with holes poked through with a bright light behind it and possibly using a star filter? Please let me know if I'm right. A "How'd They Do That?" tutorial would probably be very well received on this shot.
This shot looks overall very patriotic and you could probably easily change the title and sell it as that with a print, espcially with the 4th of July coming up.
As for the shot, normally I go back and look over the photographer's profile and see what they have done in the past but I already know with you. Not sure why you wanted a critique on this, it's very well done, even with no time, LOL! I really can't add anything to this shot as far as ways to improve it. Good job!

Toccata no. 3 in Purpleby dr rickComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
From your shower stall? Wow, I thought it was a tree knot! I really shoudn't be the one doing a critique on an abstract shot. It's not one of my better areas of photography and I honestly never really understood a lot of it. But here goes, so knowing what you do about my strength in this area, this isn't a bad shot to me overall but the whole shot seems to lack that POP, that WOW that really makes it jump out of the screen at me.
I like the composition and the cropping but the colors, while nice, seem a bit dull overall to me. Maybe if you played with it a bit in the colors or hue and saturation to make the colors really pop out? Also if focus was just a tad sharper to really bring out the lines and edges?
I really like some of your other shots, the hippo one was great and the Magic one is also great. Keep up the good work!

Opposing Shadowsby aaronb532Comment: This shot meets the challenges on a couple of levels but the shot itself seems a bit out of focus and noisy and while the idea is good the lack of contrast leaves the shot looking rather dull to me. A 3 |

Open and Closedby vtruanComment: This is a great shot of a closed bud but the open flower in the background ends up being a distraction to me rather than part of the shot. Maybe if you could have had them both in focus, DOF just doesn't work in this shot for me personally. A 3 to start but will bump to a 5 since the bud is so well done. :) |

Indecisionby nathankComment: Gotta love government indecision ;)
Good idea but the shot leaves me wanting more contrast and lighting and maybe a different angle, maybe from the side and from above if possible? Play with the colors just a bit to make the yellow really pop? A 3 as is |

Black house - White houseby Mad-DComment: I think this would work much better if it wasn't a reflection, the colors get lost and the bricks under the water are really distracting. The building looks interesting all on it's own. :) A 3 |

Young Timers!by tolovemoonComment: Okay, just what are these two hiding behind that newspaper and afgan? :) Not sure how the title helps this fit the challenge, I would have thought man/woman as the opposite. The paper and afgan are very distracting and the lighting seems a bit harsh. A 3 |

Sidewalk Chessby suemackComment: This would have been great for the proportion challenge! Not sure quite how it fits the opposite challenge though. Not a bad shot but the picture just doesn't really pop for me, the colors seem a bit dull and the cropping seems a bit loose. A 3 |
