Mix of Church and State

Mix of Church and State

Nice reflection of the alter in the door window, very cool. I don't really see the State connection since it's just apartments and businesses across the street but the mix of the two is unique and different. But I think if you had turned around and shot the alter alone it would have gone over much better. A 4

Like you, I too feel that the great outdoors is the best place to find and get in touch with your spiritual side. The idea is well thought out but the picture leaves me wanting. FIrst the size seems a bit small overall and it's so crowded in the small area. I know the time of year leaves the trees bare in most areas but perhaps if you had come at a more straight angle instead of straight up? Captured a more natural landscape setting? A 4

Nice capture of the two of them, one setting, one rising or is it the opposite? More clarity in this shot would really up the score for me, the colors are very nice, the dark to light sky. I'm guessing it was a bit windy because of the blur of the trees? I started with a 4 on first glance with this shot but am raising it to a 5

A sacred place in the mist

I know it's misty and it really adds a sense of surrealness to the building in the background but my gut instinct vote on this one was a 4 because of the mist effect, I'm not a big fan of mist shots though I've tried them myself. Coming back and I see the nice balance in this shot, the light is well done and the clarity is there if you look for it. Going to an 8

I'm guessing because of the three doors you are trying to say that you can choose door number one, two or three and your religion at the same time? Interesting shot overall but the color really doesn't do anything for me personally, maybe a black and white would have worked better? The cutting off of the tips of the tops of the doors also leaves me wanting. I started at a 4 on this but am raising it to a 7

Now why would this have to be validated? I see a great reflective shot myself that my gut instinct told me was a 4 to start because the reflection was so wavy but coming back and looking again, I like the lines, the way they draw you into the shot and the way they take you through. A slightly less wavy effect would have gotten you a 9 or 10, raising to an 8

Nice bed, wish my bedroom was that nice and that I had a door! The softness of the shot offers a feeling of tranquility and peace, just what a bedroom should be. The lighting is a bit too yellow for my taste, maybe if it was toned down just a bit, even a little darker? I started at a four on this shot, the right side is also a bit of a distraction, maybe a slightly tighter crop? I'm raising it to a 7

Haven't I seen this church before? From a different angle? Will have to check back after the challenge to see if it's the one I think. I like the angle of the shot and the curves of the roof. The lighting is just about perfect but the white border line is distracting to me. If the crop was on that line the shot would be close to perfect in that aspect. My gut instinct vote on this was a 4, it looked fuzzy and a bit dark at first but upon closer inspection I know now it was my glasses! EEK! :) Raising your score to an 8

A beautiful building and the black and white is very nice, good contrast and light but I would really like to have seen this shot in color to see if it might pop somre more. The (spiral?) in the center is interesting but it's cut off and so bright. Also the light is a bit blown out on the corner and to the left of the door. A tighter crop on the bottom might also help to me. A 4

Or just about any other church one can see :) It's a lovely church and the angle of the shot is very well done. The lighting leaves much to be desired for me, the darkness towards the bottom would work better if the light was stronger on the top. The tree branches are a bit distracting but you can't make nature co=operate now can we? A 4
