No Wake Zoneby gfkeenanComment: Not sure how this meets the challenge. Aside fdrom that, it would have been nice to have less water, and more of the tree on top. Perhaps cropping out the yellow vehicle (or turning the camera slightly to the left) would have helped as well. |

Intermingleby elsapoComment: I tried but couldn't see what's opposite here. If it's opposite colors on the color wheel, then I'm afraid I miss that boat because I don't know which colors are opposite. That said, the image doesn't hold too much visual interest for me. |

Fire and Iceby JukomoxComment: Fire and Ice is tough to pull off. Here's what I think falls short in this image: contrast, using ice cubes, and going in black and white (which seems like a waste of color for this kind of image!). The "flame" is a bit odd, and there's no visual explanation for that. The composition doesn't treat the eye, IMHO. |

Fire Waterby duncesComment: First, it's way too small to evaluate fairly. Second, the blue portion (lower right) doesn't make sense -- what is that? It looks like golden water above it, which does make sense (given the candlelight) and then there's that blue stuff. < > |

Fire and Iceby DragonStarComment: Like so many of the Fire and Ice entries, this falls short of being compelling. There's no drama here, nothing to make the viewer wonder WHY there is Fire and Ice together. The image is rather flat, the flame just so-so, and the ice bland. Tough subject to do well -- that's why I stayed away from it! lol |

Fire & Iceby rha600Comment: The ice is what falls short on this image. It's too gray, too boring (obviously just taken from the ice maker), and too confined in the galss. Black background works, but the ice, which is most of the subject, isn't compelling. There's no mystery here. Either you have a candle behind the glass, or in the glass surrounded by ice cubes. Try to think of another angle or perspective! |

She and Heby greslizzzComment: Not sure what I'm looking at here, except I realize it's fish. Male and female guppy? That must be it. The idea isn't bad (the male is always so colorful compared to the female) but in this picture, you have them separated too far, and that mesh thing isn't adding anything to your picture. Fish are hard to photograph; keep trying! ;-) |

chessmenby MorbidAngelComment: Terrible focus! Even if that were fixed, the image is static. Chessmen lined up on a chessboard. What's different about YOUR perspective? Try different angles, get the thing focused, work on better lighting, move some of the pieces around, and you'll have something interesting. |

The Lights at Nightby LenMComment: This is conveying Opposites, how? What I see is a picture that doesn't give my eye somewhere to rest; there are three competing spots of light that don't seem related to one another. The moon part with the branches is actually rather interesting, but it gets lost in the larger picture. |

sublimationby DoylieComment: I'm not understanding this image. Melting ice? ice and steam? Solid ice and water drops? Anyway, the monochromatic scheme isn't giving your picture any life. The image doesn't convey OPPOSITES to me, except with a stretch. |
