Fall Bridgeby ErinKirstenComment: I thought this looked a lot like an Erin piece, but it had been a while since I'd seen you submitting so I wasn't sure. I always admire your portraiture, and this was pretty high in the pack for my vote. I'm curious whether I was unique in this, but my eye kept treating this a little like an optical illusion. Somehow the subject looks almost miniature in relation to the context. That must be a very interesting bridge to visit in person. |

Zigzagby LevTComment: Greece! Man, I was trying to peg where this might have been captured in voting. I have a photo I took--nothing nearly this compelling--when my wife and I took a trip out to far west Texas in 2020 that was from about this same angle and height overlooking the Big Bend area. I had to do a double take.
Love the composition. This was one of my top choices for the challenge. |

Why Not Bothby beatabgComment: Unusual crop, but well seen. Subsequent revisits have caused me to see interpretive layers in this framing. It hints at parallel realities, registers something like an interrogation of the tidy boxes we like to put ourselves in--the way we live in interdependent community but pretend like we're living in isolation.
Maybe that's more than was intended, but good art is evocative like that, right? |

The freedom of choosing your own wayby hajekaComment: Registers as a wee bit over-sharpened for my taste, but the DOF and subject placement in this are super compelling. Has that understated touch of whimsy that makes the sentiment feel like something fit for a motivational poster. |
