Title: Challenge Transporter, By Musicman

Composition: I find it difficult to define exactly what you had in mind here. Generally the photographer tries to lead the viewer to the main subject through the use of subject placement, lines found in and or around the subject, lighting techniques, and other conveyance that he/she can imagine. In your picture, the truck is headed directly at a building. The lines of the side of the truck lead me to the building. Your title indicate (kind of) that the truck is the subject, but it doesn't hold my attention when its line lead me away to the fitness center.

Technical: You shot the dark side of the truck where you would have a need for longer exposure, which may have required the use of a tripod to get a sharp image. Both focus, and exposure have a direct effect on the sharpness of the image. If it is under exposed it will become grainy and fuzzy, and with focus it will be blurry if not correct. I think your picture shows a little of each.

Challenge: With challenges so vague it was not difficult to meet the challenge this time, and you have done that.

Suggestions: To improve you abilities think about what you are showing the viewers, and what the effect will be on them. Use the basic rules of composition, exposure and lighting, all of which there are excellent tutorials on at the DPChallenge site. Any number of people will testify that the site and its members have helped them improve their skills, of which I am no exception. I rated your picture a 5 during the challenge, which was a smidgen above the masses, mainly because you got out there and took a picture that wasn't offensive, and met the challenge.

Keep shooting and have fun!

Dick

Title: Consider Me Gone, by Arnit

Composition: The composition of this shot is done real well. I like the way the right side of the foot and calf just blend into the background with no absolute definition, in contrast to the opposite side which is very defined. Your choice of B/W is right on, and it was executed with good contrast and use of the gray scale.

Technical: You have excellent focus and exposure, and lighting, with only minor blurring of the toes.

Challenge: Your picture definitely meets the challenge, but I think crawling came before walking, Ha Ha.

Suggestions: There are a couple of things I don't really care about on the picture, it is a great job so don't get me wrong. When I first open it up it doesn't jump up and say "Hang me in your living room". I think a top picture should have that type of effect on the viewer. Secondly, the lines developed by the left side of your image take my eye to two different places. One along the shin area takes me up and out of the picture, and the other along the top of the foot takes me to those soft focused toes. Neither of these trips is very rewarding, which is why I only rated it with a 5 when I voted in the challenge.

I consider you to be one of the better photographers here, which is proven week after week by the diversity of subjects that your pictures represent. Keep up the great work.

This is a really nice shot. I especially like the use of a shallow DOF, and there is absolutly no sign of over processing. 9

It's hard to tell the difference between the subject and the reflections. Some may not think you hit the challenge but you are dead on IMO. good work. 9

A superb picture. The rim of the glass is prominant enough for you to meet the challenge and the lady bug is placed just right to invoke interest. I have came back to this one three times and that is a ggod sign. 10

This is a tough one. I can see you spent some time getting this, but I see room for improvement. The focus is off and might have been corrected with longer exposure and higher f-stop. Lint in the background, and cropping might have been better, in this case, if equal on all sides. 5

Nice idea with good colors. I think you cropped a little too close and I don't care much for the single stem just going out of the top center of the frame. 5

This is different. I can't figure out what it actually is but I guess that doesn't really matter. good technically, most people won't take time enough to study it and they will probably vote it low and move on. 6

I always wanted to try something like this but didn't want to clean up the mess. Nice capture. 7
