Love the black & white aspect, the lighting is great. Good focus. I'm not really getting a lonely or solitude feeling from the image though - its actually striking me as a 'hide 'n seek' sort of image. Heh. I do see how it was meant to be construed though I think. Very solid image. 7

Heh.. the little figurine is cute, lighting is good, use of space as well. Nice focus. Technically a nice image. I find that I lose interest quickly though once I've figured out what the figurine is doing. Doesn't keep me engaged. Still, excellent tech. work. 6

Wonderful portrait. The tone and the child's expression really brings out the feeling of sadness and fits the challenge very well. Great lighting, focus is good. Very emotive picture. The white border I don't like, doesn't really mesh with the photo. Nice job! 8

Alone with the Tide

Beautiful. I like the fact there isn't anything interrupting the the expanse of the image - the ocean is your single subject and it really gives me a feeling of solitude. I can imagine myself there looking out over the ocean alone. Nicely done. Lighting is great as is focus, I like how the water looks almost black which foils nicely with the colors of the sky. I'm sure its been mentioned but my one distraction is that blue lens flare. Other than that, its a marvelous image. Well done. 9.

Feather`s Drop

A very artistic image. I like the texture differences between the feather and drop of water. I also like the green hue, boosts the shot up for me. I'm not getting a general solitude or lonely feel from this image BUT, oddly enough when I look at the water drop it seams very tear-like to me. Not sure why. That then leads me to thinking of despair which can come from loneliness or solitude - so.. what I'm trying to say is.. 8!

I think this image really does reflect your title. Nice job there. I also like the clarity of the piece. Great lighting, lots of interest. His posture gives a bit of a tired feeling rather than necessarily loneliness or solitude - but I think it fits the challenge all the same. Wonderful capture. 7

Long Shadows

Great detail, I like the perspective and use of distance. Lighting is great, as is focus. The title makes me believe the focus should be on the shadows but I find my eyes going to the tracks in the sand instead. Feels a little contradictory. Also, as a personal preference I would've cropped just above the tallest rock formation, keeping a bit of the pretty blue sky but pulling the image down a bit more to the tracks. Great photo! 8

I like the concept behind the image, I'm not sure its fully captured but I can get the essense from the photo. I love the richness of the green and the focus looks good. The dappled sunlight really works nicely. Perspective is good, gives that size difference feel. Well done. 7
