Where'd everybody go?by wetlandComment: Great color and use of natural light. Looks like a golf course, its so crisp and green. I like the position of the dog and the wide expanse shown. Helps bring for and sustain the all alone aspect of the photo. Focus looks great as does composition. Only two things I would suggest: One is a closer crop on the left where it looks like there is a shadow peeking out, nothing major but I did notice it and wonder what it was. Second, would be to crop down so that the sky is not in the photo - instead have it straight green trees across. The addition of sky makes me notice how much of the trees on either side are cut off at top which is a bit of a detractant, I think with the solid color my noticing would be less. Just a thought. Well done. 8 |

in the fieldby teepot9Comment: Good use of the light, interesting image with the fog obscuring the single item in the distance. Nice use of space. I find the tree on the right side a large distractant, and the small size detracts a bit for me as well. Seems to have focus issues but I'm not sure if that's related to resizing or not. Nice idea/image, but the technical aspect of it had a negative impact for me. 4 |

All Alone in the Green Grass of Hopeby bsaluComment: What an odd little mushroom! I love the color, nice and vivid. Fits the challenge in general, don't really get a solitude or lonely feel from it. I think the focus is great and the use of natural light is too. Would prefer either a slightly skewed view or off-center instead smack dab in the middle, just for added depth and interest. Nicely done. 6 |

Despairby jacksonptComment: Good perspective, the emptiness of the landscape helps pull in that feeling of solitude and despair. Composition is nice, dead or denuded tree adds a bit of vulnerability to the photo. I like the light usage and the b&w. 7 |

Self Solitudeby StewanComment: Interesting image. I like the use of light and b&w. I think the expression and pose of the subject gives a sadness or despair to the photo which can be linked to loneliness and/or solitude, so it meets the challenge in my eyes. The focus good, the only thing I don't like are the things in the background. I find them destracting. Nice photo. 7 |

Passing timeby vrphotosComment: Gorgeous colors and nice focus. Fits the challenge in general, not sure I get a lonely or solitude feeling from it. May be the warm lighting. The lighting is good, though it seems a little harsh on the shirt and shoes. A lovely image all the same. 7 |

After the Frostby soupComment: Nice image! I like all the different textures shown. The orange leaf against the dark background really makes the image pop too. Fits alone, there is a bit of a lonely feel of it to me. Good lighting, nice focus. Put together a very sound image. Well done. 8 |
