I like the black & white choice, gives the contrasts a boost and adds a starkness. Focus is good, I wish the whole leaf were in focus though. Nice perspective. An interesting image. 7

Wow what a great contrast. I love the vivid yellow of the image, the starkness of the single tree and then the grey clouds is wonderful. Nice dramatic use of distance and space - supports the alone, solitude feel. Great detailing. An exceptional image. 9

The scenery does seem rather bleak. I like the black & white tones, very good contrast. I'm not sure if the title is indicating that this is an anniversary of the day, this is where the person was, or just a representation of how the photographer felt. The use of natural light is great, my only negatives are I wish the entire tree was visible and sharper, and the white border draws my eyes away. Nice work! 6

A good image. Normally I'd say it doesn't really fit all alone, but the focusing does make the man with the ax stand out and look separated. The focus is good, I like the low lighting as well, unfortunately the color seems a little washed out - not sure if that is because of the light or not. Good emotional impact. Nicely done. 7

Lonely chair..

Fits the challenge, lighting is good - the low tones help to enhance a lonely feel. Focus is good but seems to be directed more at the ground than the chair. Technically sound over all but the interest factor is missing for me. Maybe if the image was black & white it would have an added starkness which would boost the interest level. 6

A great shot. Lighting is good, focus is excellent. Its unfortunate those people are in the background, they really detract for me. The best thing I like about this is it gives me a subtle feeling of solitude because of the horse's blinders shutting out the rest of the world. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but its what I see in the image - very powerful but shown so simply and subtley. Very nice. 8

Nice use of black & white - great open feel to the image. I like the perspective. I wish the lines were a bit sharper. The distance before the child makes for good use of space, definitely feels alone. Not sure I get an underlying solitude or loneliness feeling though. A very solid photo. 8

Very powerful image. Focus is excellent, image has a lot to see and all of it culminates in a feeling of desperation, loneliness, sadness and pain. Title really sets the piece up. Color is good, I like the sort of washed out look (was this desaturated?) makes the arm look dead. A gutsy image to make - I really like the 'blood' drop. A disturbing but fantastic image. 10

Love the blue, gives a nice brightness to the image. Use of natural light is good - throws the duck into a semi-silhouette. I would rather the duck had more sharpness to it though, seems a bit blurred. Good composition - use of distance & space is excellent, supports the all alone feel. 7
