Day & Nightby dsidwellComment: very nice - definately some drama to it. good tones too.
the negative space does underplay the size of the mountains i would guess.

"Nevermore"by zeuszenComment: boy - i didn't think this would win, but thought it would place much higher. i mean it's very close up, unless it has been majorly cropped.
the subtle blues in the BG are very nice. the exposure must have been a tough one to figure - so much dark area. add to that a fleeting subject - and you have a difficult scene to capture.
i disagee with skiprow - in that in this case - being a raven - the looking out of the frame goes right along with the stereotypical feelings ravens evoke. framing it in this way makes the viewer uneasy - as does the subject. i voted a 9...
curious the lens, and distance to subject for this.

Angel Smileby NinjaMomComment: soft focus - possible cause - the canon 10d - depending on the the parameter settings takes a soft photo - the images need to be sharpened in post processing. basically any image from a high'ish end digital SLR camera will need to be sharpened on the computer.
second possibilty - you are relying too heavily on the camera to make things work for the image. ie. wrong AF focus point is locking focus.
the closest one to the subject if they are all active will grab the focus lock.
third possibility - the lense is a soft lense. you are using it at fstops outside the capabilities of the lens. ie. a cheap lense will perform poorly wide open ( say @ f:3.5 - or stopped down f:22 or higher )
