I got to thinking about this one, This wasn't the easiest thing to pull off in basic editing... and althougt the brightness of the blub bothers me, (I personaly would have cropped that out, because you can still tell this is a cat under a lamp with out it..) It still is a good job of handleing all the light and the cat midtones.. (and ya had me with a cat!) soo I say 7

Nicely done... my only suggestion, and this is just my taste, I would have pushed the little boys face over to the far left pane of the lamp instead of the center... but that being said you did an excellent job!

I love your light and focus on all the copper rings, the one thing that kinda bothers me is the main light seems very glarey compared to the rest of the composition.
