Thanks for all the great comments. This was a fun shot, for me at least. The poor souls down below didn't understand what I was after so they were starting to get annoyed. So, I couldn't get my shot set up better. The reason they aren't bunched up better and the foliage is hanging out in the top of the scene. But in general, I am thrilled with it and hope to do more of these kind of out of the box shots.

Ooga think Grog make good living for Ooga. Will have to keep Grog in cave but will have to toss the shiny black thing in fire. Ooga can't eat shiny thing but will keep the other end of what is under big stick thing. But Grog has to promise not to hit Ooga with stick thing when she puts shiny thing in fire.

I know that shooting food is a tough challenge from all the cooking shows I watch but your dish looks unappetizing to me. Your depth of field is too shallow to me, so I can't see all the pasta in focus. Perhaps if you had shot it a bit farther out and then cropped in very close it would have appealed to me more.. I know that they utilizes different techniques when shooting food, Not that I know what they are AT ALL. I didn't try this challenge because I knew I could cook the dishes but didn't think I knew enough about lighting to pull it off. To me, your lighting seems a bit flat and harsh. Without enough contrast to help define all the food elements, they seem a bit muddled. although this is not a cooking challenge, one of my criteria for judging these food shots, at least the people food, is does it make me want to eat it. Since we eat with our eyes just as much as we do with our noses and taste buds, I don't want to eat your dish.
