Childhoodby ytshuvaComment: Wow! Fabulous light, subtle color toning, engaging expressions and emotion. Although we inherently know the subjects are interacting with the photographer, it comes across as an unknown, unsees subject out-of-frame. A sense of foreboding. I'm probably reading way too much into this, but it's really striking and keeps my attention. The presence of a mask on the chin of the girl in the center-rear adds context, too. Bravo! |

Burano by wbanningComment: Originally posted by pgirish007: where is this place? may be I should move there so that next time when you walk around you can take my photograph along with the location :D |
Burano is part of the City of Venice. It's an island about 45 minutes northeast of the main island by Vaporetto (water bus). Murano, another island much closer to Venice is well-known for it's beautiful glass. Burano is known as a fishing village and for its handmade linen and lace. The entire island is full of brilliant multicolored buildings. Many of the residents pay careful attention to complementary colors and stage the outside of their homes with coordinated accessories, tools, etc. For photographers, skipping Murano and taking the time to get to Burano a great option.
Hoping to return someday... sigh.

The evening that was by NeatComment: My pick for the blue. It lovely and manages to stand out from the others by being not only low contrast but engaging and an appropriate subject for low contrast treatment. Beautiful, subtle and evocative. |

that wayby PennyStreetComment: Lines leading from the bottom to the curb [pause] jump the curb and the asphalt void to the right side triangle of white to a stop at the bottom-most white line [pause] step up across the next asphalt void to the next horizontal line [stop] nowhere left to go but to the arrow leading up and out at the top of the frame. Bottom's up! A great expression of leading lines and way under-appreciated by the voters. Kudos! |
