had to give this an 8 simply because it tells a story rather than is just a cute pet pic. The angle and framing all add to the interest

my inner child

my inner child

Comment:
The double exposure is well done and the composition shows a clear intent tend to use the technique to achieve a point. If you could have managed to get the inner child more centered I would have scored it highly - as it is the balance feels wrong so I have had to give it a 6 - sorry. I understand that getting this short of shot is difficult (doubt I could do it) but I tend to judge more on the overall impact of an image - this one had potential but didn't quite get there (for me - others will see it differently).

sorry had to give a 6. Everyone judges differently but for me the image demonstrates double exposure well but the double exposure doesn't actually enhance the impact of the image (to me). To me it says - "here is a really clean image of a flower and here it is upside down to show a technique"... and I think - "does doing that really make the photo better?" I know you are caught between a rock and a hard place... on this site some people tend to judge highly on meeting the challenge (hopefully they will score you highly to balance me) and you have met it well and some judge more on the overall impact. I lean a lot on the impact side - sorry it didn't do the impact (for me). If you could have managed to have something different about the 2 parts then that probably would have pushed it higher in my eyes.

NB that is just me - no criticism of technique (is well done) just a long winded comment how it struck me as an individual.

The Eyes Have It

The Eyes Have It

6 from me. I think the intent was good, for me the eye/hand positioning with the thumb intruding on the eye didn't work. Doing this kind of shot is not easy I understand but in the end I tend to judge on how the image strikes me irrespective of the difficulty getting the shot and I think a slightly different placement of the eye would have pushed more of my buttons. That is just me though.

Sorry had to give a 5 - technically all fine, no criticisms on that front but just didn't hit any of my aesthetic buttons.

getting the image shows obvious technical cunning but it just doesn't hit any of my aesthetic buttons. Sorry had to give 5 - good technique and intention but didn't strike me emotionally. That is just me though

ACW = All Comments Welcome... have tried it a few times recently to see if it will up my comment quota but don't think it works except to generate comments like 'what does ACW stand for'!... :)

cheers

I thought this a good image, I liked the composition, contrasts and just the whole mood it created for me. I gave it 9 in the challenge, sorry it didn't do so well from that many others :(

I hope it helps, and that I haven't offended you. It really wasn't my intention, I hope it makes up somewhat for your lack of comments, 13 ones and two comments isn't fair. I feel some people have lost sight of what DPChallenge is about.

Best of luck in future challenges, you have only done 6 so far, so there is all to play for!!!

Mark

cheers Mark - no offence taken at all and many thanks for the constructive feedback (and for taking the time to give it).

In my case all and any comments are welcome, I actually appreciate them more than the score! (well except for the one comment I just got that consisted of just two characters
"R 3" and nothing more... about which I have no idea!)

regards

Jon
