Congrats on your first ribbon! And what a way to get the Blue! 8.3 is probably one of the highest scores ever!

Subject's face is out of focus, looks like the camera focused on the stairs in the background.

This gives more a feeling of entering the scene. To give a feeling of exiting the scene you could have framed or cropped the shot so that the bird was facing the edge of the frame on the right with negative space on the left.
