Absolut Poisonby gyabanComment: Originally posted by tanguera: Nicely done, Christophe. Wondering how you got the green... |
Thank you!
I'm afraid the green color is not resulting from a $300 secret process... mint syrup ;-)
As for the glow, it's lit from underneath (there are 2 holes in the black surface under the transparent glossy surface so that strobes are directed directly on the glass and on the bottle). Message edited by author 2011-06-30 12:29:38. |

Absolut Heavenly by mefnjComment: Fantastic idea and execution. The pale gold tones and the soft focus effect work amazingly well. Congratulations on your absolutely deserved ribbon :-) |

Absolut fulfilling by william88Comment: Very clever engineering and design, impressive stuff. Took me a while to reverse-engineer it and actually figure out a way to reproduce the effect, but creating it from scratch is pure genius. Hats off! |

43 Minute Exposure by mgarsteckComment: Very inspiring, a wonderful example of what can a (very) long exposure achieve. Congratulations on your great photo and on the ribbon: I like your photo much more than mine! |

I Walk the Lineby gyabanComment: Originally posted by mariuca: Nice illustration. A bit too far from photography per se.
You put me often in this dilemma of evaluationg an image that it so well done, imaginative , etc in a context in which it does not belong exactly.
I catch myself often using a picture as base for digital art and refrain for using it in a challenge that is not expert editing.
Just my opinion here. I might be too much of a purist.
Congratulation for getting so quickly to this point, since you said that photography is quite a new hobby for you. Or is it already a profession? |
Thanks.
No it's not a profession, and probably won't be. I want to remain absolutely free in my choices: I have no interest in fulfilling some buyer's expectations or vision. |

Thanks a lot for your comment!
As for the unprocessed versions, no sorry, I usually don't show them. I don't like the opposition that some tend to make between "pure photography" and "post-processing": consequently, I don't want to provide originals that would be used as (so called) "evidences" by one side or another.
I consider the whole thing (imagination, sketches, hardware preparations & logistics, setup, lighting, shooting, raw conversion, post-processing, quality check) as a process aimed at delivering a final product. Isolating one element or another would alter the way the image is perceived, in my opinion. This is also why I don't shoot "making of" photos. Message edited by author 2011-06-23 08:11:33. |

Ghosts of a brilliant past...by cyparisComment: There's a very good idea here: a human-made machine witnessing its creators life passing by. Ironical, isn't it?
Technically, I think the composition is the main weakness of the shot, since the silhouettes are not clearly visible at a glance. Perhaps with the car taking less place in the frame, and the crowd walking behind but also in front of it, with a shorter exposition so that humanoid shapes are easily spotted. |

Peach Wine Processing by MAKComment: Extremely nice picture, it was one of my top pick. I love the color harmony, it contrasts with the inherent violence of the pressure. And it also makes me hungry, now I want a peach! ;-) Congratulations. |
