| 11/14/2012 03:56:39 PM | The Witching Hour by Samantha_TComment: Congratulations Samantha! I really love this one: so much to looks at! The way you integrated all the various monsters is wonderfully subtle and clever. Can't wait to see your next creation! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/12/2012 08:58:41 AM | At Your Service for Decades Redux - A tribute to Gyaban by Samantha_TComment: What can I say? This is fantastic Samantha. Thanks a lot for picking one of my photo, it's an honor! I remember that it was quite hard to obtain the right face expression: in order to help me in that regard, I was simulating conversations with an imaginary person, and shot many photos randomly: the best one was chosen afterwards. I am very curious about your method, since your position is so close to mine! Everything matches so well: arms, eyes, pen, face. Not mentioning the obvious: identical lighting and outfit, and a superb processing, better than mine at the time. Thanks again :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/12/2012 08:47:14 AM | Freedom by Alex_PetriniComment: This brings back some great memories, thanks a lot for choosing one of my photo :-) I am very flattered. I must say you did a very good jump with the location choice, sun position and the jump! If I remember correctly, I believe that instead of using planks cut in two, I broke them on my knee prior to installing them on the beach, so that the middle parts would not be too regular. But I'm just nitpicking, the result is great. I hope you had much fun with that one :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/12/2012 08:36:52 AM | Boom boom plop plop plopby vawendyComment: Thank you very much for choosing one of my photo! I can even say that you probably chose one of the most technical shot I have ever done. In fact, synchronizing the double-drop and the stroboscope is almost impossible to do without the help of an external device (such as the 'StopShot' module I used at the time). So while you had to slip that part (I assume you lacked such equipment), you brought a new interpretation of the photo, and I really like that 'film-noir' mood you obtained. The light on milk drops and cup work very well together, resulting in a very stylish photo. Thanks again! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/12/2012 08:29:13 AM | Soap Bubble - Gyaban - Macro without bugs or flowers IVby DustDevilComment: Thanks a lot for choosing one of my photo! Of course, this macro has been done by many other persons than me, so it is not my 'property' by any mean, but I really like how you tried to match the colors and shapes I obtained at the time. Regarding the depth of field, it is always very hard when it comes to macro shots. I remember that instead of photographing a real bubble, I used a piece of metallic wire that I bent to create a rectangular frame. When put in the soap, the frame would create a film, hopefully flat, that you can photography with everything in focus. Still tricky, but that helped a bit! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Thank you. "Best" is subjective, sometimes it is hard to foresee how the various opinions will merge together. But thanks for letting me know yours. |

Thanks Susan! It is not particularly tiny, it is 800 pixels wide. I suppose this impression comes from the fact I used a 2:1 ratio, resulting in only 400 pixels vertically. |

Question for you- did you use a neutral ND filter for the horizon separation or just a standard ND filter? Or no filter at night? |
Thanks a lot Dennis. Yes, I used a ND 1000 filter. However, to get that contrasted horizon, I processed the RAW file 2 times, one time with normal exposure for the sea and fortress, and another time (lower exposure and much more contrast) for the sky. Then I blended them manually together. |
| 11/02/2012 07:45:25 AM | The Emotion of Peace by JudiComment: Congratulations Judi, beautiful photo. I especially love the pastel tones, delicate and eye-catching at the same time. And I see we have a common taste for bright water-ish foregrounds :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
