Fanny Hillby disassociationComment: Not familiar, but it seems she was a prostitute. Also not sure this is really a novel, and not sure it's a classic.
I guess the model here could be a prostitute.. Sure why not...
However, the image overall seems... meh. Lighting is harsh, and speckled from tree cover.. Pose is ok, but not great either.
I'll give some extra points for fit, and take some for finish. 5 |

War of The Worldsby MondComment: It kinda does evoke that doesn't it?
Really weird coloration, but generally fits.
Processing here does just absolutely nothing for me, and the image itself isn't composed particularly well IMO.
In any case, this is a 5, simply for evoking the novel so well, and in such a strange way. |

Tribute to O.Henryby lei_73Comment: Cabbages and Kings huh?...
Technically that's not a novel, it's a collection of short stories.
..
Images like this upset me somewhat - it's a good image, very nicely done. But... It's not right, it doesn't meet the challenge. Not only is it not a novel, but... Dunno.. Does the image really capture the work? Or is it just a clever visual pun?
So what am I left to do? Reward the great image? Or punish the failure to follow instructions?
I suppose I'll do both, and just wish that you had chosen a novel instead of a collection of short stories.

The Secret Gardenby lunachickenComment: Hmm.. This novel evokes images of fantastic English gardens and high-culture.
The image doesn't really do that for me - this seems far more American and rural, and not like the imagery of the novel.
With that being said, a lonely child was a strong theme of the novel, so points there.
Overall, the image doesn't really intrigue me, and I find the reflection to be the most interesting part - yet even then it's still not terribly interesting.

Grapes of Wrathby snafflesComment: Too literal.
The novel wasn't at all about grapes, the title was simply from a battle hymn.
Now, despite the fact that I think you've failed entirely to deliver on the challenge, I do think you've delivered an excellent image...
What to do? I'll award a 5 for this, but it's really only for sheer image quality.
Bumped to 6 for astounding quality. |

Esperanza Corderoby odriewComment: Hmm. So what about this says "writer" or "poverty"?
She does have a book, so I suppose that's not miles away.. Also, I think she looks more asian than latina.
Processing here is going to have its fans, no doubt. I'm not one of them. :) I like crisp details on the face in a shot like this, and the overall softness isn't doing it for me. Nor do I love cross-processed images.
With that being said, composition is good (wish her arm was more or less visible), and the image does have a reasonable impact.
5 for coming close, but missing the mark. |

Brave New Worldby UrfaKComment: I see what you've tried to do here, with 'birth' being the idea.
I've hatched too many chickens to buy this. Humans and horses bleed, chickens just come out slightly damp.
With that being said, birth was a theme in the book but it was really quite different than this image conveys. A test tube would have gotten far more love from me.
5 (and only because it is a decent image technically) |

Wuthering Heights, a dark and ugly placeby AmmieComment: Hmm... Sorta on-key - but sorta not, really doesn't evoke the Wuthering Heights of the novel, but is at least similar enough to give you a pass on that aspect.
What isn't present here is that sense of foreboding, of mystery and darkness.

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment: Nice. But the bowl and spoon are far nicer than any orphan would have, or at least nicer than I picture when I read the novel, as is the rather nice shirt... And those hands do not speak to me of poverty.
With that being said. The image is good, if too grainy and just a touch over-sharp in some places (look at the thumbs)
Fits the novel well enough, but not crazy well. Composition leaves something to be desired.
