No shoehorn, it was shot specifically with " displacement" of water as a scientific principal of mechanics in mind.
The line at the back are the tiles at edge of pool.
The shot was taken in the daytime and made to look dark with curves.
The large border was to draw you into the shot.
I saw this challenge as a shot of something scientific happening, not of an object of science.
