Nothing Gold Can Stayby bassboneComment: There are a number of backlit images of late, h2 (Oliver did one in the recent July 2012 FS) and I comment on them if they cross my path. This is beautiful. The rimlight and the golden hour colour is stunning. I gave it a 7. 8 if the little grass stalk bottom right was held back out of the shot :P
I am tempted to get that Nikkor 60mm Macro especially for the DX bodies but I think I'll settle for the newer Nikkor 100mm f/2.8 VRII...now where's the nearest liquor store and my sawn off shotgun...? |

Gone Fishingby RayEthierComment: Now we understand each other's comments in the FS forum :) You were robbed of a better finish thanks the 44 "below average" 5 or less slaps in the face.
I understood the technicals needed to get this shot, the effort, the skill, lovely pose, pov, upbeat of the wing, catchlight etc. but I felt that it could have been much sharper considering the sunny conditions. At least a 1/2000th would have done that at (ISO 400) or it was possibly too heavily cropped thus losing crispness. I couldn't comment on it during voting as I was torn between a 6 or 7. So I sat on the fence with a 6 sorry Ray. I gave out 61 votes of 7 to 10 and was fussy due it being a FS. |

Me and My Shadowby mgsmith53Comment: 7 :) and you got 1 fave! I only give 7 or more to hummer shots that are obviously NOT setup with a sugar laden feeder, visible in shot or not and those that are plainly note like this one. Note that I gave you a higher score than mine was averaging at the time. Who'd give this a 2, 3, 4 or 5? Envy. Sloth. Greed and no doubt they never saw the shadow. An 8 without the eye catching bumblebee... |

Into the Wildby hahn23Comment: Despite some dust cloning, crop, slight sat increase my entry this FS was also untouched. Judging by some responses to it and previous FS work submitted I have come to learn that if it isn't made 'unreal', change bland grey water to fusion dayglo blue water (the way water should be right?), that is nothing like it was to my naked eye at time of shot, it won't fare better scorewise...pfffffft. Enough voters this time appreciated it. |

Landing Gear Downby eyestrangeComment: And this one pushes all but one non-bird image of your profile page :) WD Pat. 6.3x in FS is a great affirmation. |

vickiby GilesComment: Agreed.
It would seem that a certain voting rule has been broken at least 19 times...
I liked the shot barring the blue caste, odd pose and all.
Perhaps I'm being a soccer mom about that but at least it was a 6, 7 with a more natural skin tone. |
